Years ago, a high school friend from San Juan High School was killed in his condo in Citrus Heights, next to where TGI Friday’s used to be. His name was Peter C. Johnson. Was his killer ever caught?
– Barbara, Citrus Heights
Peter Carl Johnson was found dead in the early morning of July 21, 1990, on the sidewalk in front of his Bonham Circle residence near Sunrise Boulevard in Citrus Heights.
Sacramento County sheriff’s officials said he had been clubbed in the head. His watch and wallet were missing, leading authorities to believe that robbery was the motive.

According to stories in The Bee, Johnson, 28, had once worked in the Sacramento office of Rep. Robert Matsui. He had left the job the previous summer when he was diagnosed with cancer. At the time of his death, his cancer was in remission and he was looking forward to starting an administrative job at UC Berkeley, where he graduated in 1985.
