California State Parks officials report that an individual drowned Friday afternoon near Beals Point at Folsom Lake.
Gloria Sandoval, a Parks Department spokeswoman, said Folsom Lake State Recreation Area staff received a call about 3:20 p.m. indicating that the victim was struggling in the water approximately 10 yards off shore at the Beals Point day use area.
State Park peace officers, seasonal lifeguards and State Park vessels began a search, assisted by the South Placer Fire District, Placer County Sheriff’s Office, and helicopters from various agencies. Seasonal lifeguards found the victim about 4:13 p.m.
The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of family by the Placer County Coroner’s Office.
