A police chase Sunday evening in Arden-Arcade ended with a suspect’s escape and frustration for Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies.
The incident began around 6 p.m. when deputies recognized the unidentified suspect’s vehicle and tried to pull him over. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Bowman said one of the officers had interacted with the suspect earlier in the week and knew he had a felony warrant. The suspect sped away, leading to a high-speed chase for about a block that ended in the 1000 block of Clinton Road, where the man left the vehicle and ran into his house, said sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Morace.
Morace said the suspect is believed to have left the residence before officers established a secure perimeter. After beginning their investigation of the home around 6:30 p.m., officers brought in patrol dogs to search for the suspect, who may have been armed, Bowman said. They entered the attic around 8 p.m., Morace said.
“By the time they got into the attic, there was no one there,” he said.

During the search, officers uncovered a stolen motorcycle. Morace said it was unclear whether the suspect was responsible for the motorcycle theft.
