Sacramento police seek identity of man in midtown robbery

Sacramento police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed a woman early Monday in midtown.

Two men approached a woman about 1:15 a.m. near 16th and H streets. One pulled a handgun and demanded the woman’s purse, according to a Police Department news release. The woman complied, and the two men ran off with the purse.

Both robbers were described as men in their 20s.

Minutes later, police say, one of the men was captured on video surveillance using the victim’s credit card.

He was also caught by surveillance cameras in multiple locations driving two vehicles: a gold four-door sedan and a dark-green or black late ’90s four-door minivan. A third vehicle, a black four-door sport-utility vehicle, was seen traveling with the other two vehicles, and detectives believe it is associated with the man shown in the surveillance photos, police said.

Anyone with information pertaining to the robbery or identity of the robber can call the Police Department’s dispatch center at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357, or text a tip to 274637.
