Update: Coroner identifies man shot in Fair Oaks

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has released the name of a man shot to death Sunday night in Fair Oaks.

He was identified as Wesley John Camp, 34, of Fair Oaks.

Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies were called to Camp’s home in the 7400 block of Tierra Way near San Juan Avenue and Winding Way about 9:40 p.m. when dispatchers received calls about a man being shot after an “altercation.”

Deputies found Camp shot in his upper torso. He was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.

Deputies do not know who shot Camp, according to information released early Monday morning. No information was given on a possible motive.

Some nearby neighbors who knew Camp mourned the loss of a dear friend Monday afternoon.

“It’s a tragedy,” said Russ Lindahn, 57.“He was a free-loving person. He’d probably help you even if he didn’t know you.”

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115.
