Sacramento County coroner identifies couple in apparent murder-suicide

A Sacramento couple who died Wednesday in an apparent murder-suicide have been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Ralph Walker, 62, and Len “Lenortine” Walker, 58.

Sacramento police said officers responded to the 6300 block of Glenhills Way, near Elder Creek Road and 65th Street Expressway, after receiving a call about 10:40 a.m. from a man who told dispatchers that he had just shot his wife and threatened to take his own life.

Officers evacuated several nearby houses and awaited arrival of a SWAT team to deal with the threat. Nearby Camellia Basic Elementary School was temporarily locked down until police determined that the incident involved a single residence. SWAT officers entered the home and found a man and woman who were critically injured. Medics declared both dead at the scene.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicated both had suffered gunshot wounds and Ralph Walker’s wound appeared to have been self-inflicted.
