A 70-year-old retired firefighter was found dead Saturday of an apparent gunshot wound in a Lodi park, police said.
Police identified the victim as Gary Duck of Lodi.
Duck was last seen at around 9 p.m. Friday by his wife as she went to bed, police said. She awoke almost four hours later and couldn’t find her husband. She filed a missing persons report with Lodi police at around 4 a.m.
At 9:39 a.m. Saturday a passerby called Lodi police to report a “man down” in Roget Park near the Target shopping center. Police found Duck’s body in the park.

The park is within walking distance of Duck’s home, said police Corporal Eric Bradley.
“It wasn’t uncommon for him to walk at the area parks,” Bradley said.
He said the investigation was continuing late Saturday.
