Fraud prevention workshop scheduled Thursday in Citrus Heights

A workshop to help people avoid falling victim to fraud and scams will be held Thursday in Citrus Heights.

The free fraud prevention workshop is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon at the Citrus Heights Community Center, 6300 Fountain Square Drive. It is sponsored by Assemblyman Ken Cooley, D-Rancho Cordova, the Contractors State License Board and the State Bar of California.

Seniors and other vulnerable citizens will receive advice on how to protect themselves from common types of fraud, such as identity theft and telemarketing scams, and what to do if they become victims.
