The name of the man who died in a hospital last week after suffering injuries in an altercation on Mather Field Road has been released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
He has been identified as William Chapman, 60, of Rancho Cordova.
Rancho Cordova police reported that at about 11 p.m. Sept. 18, police were called to a hospital where Chapman was being treated. Patrol officers learned that he had been in a fight in the 3300 block of Mather Field Road.
Chapman later died at the hospital.

Detectives went to the scene of the assault and found that Chapman and another man had been involved in a mutual altercation. The man who survived the fight has not been arrested.
The facts of the case will likely be forwarded to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office for review, according to a police press release.
