Two people injured in Rancho Cordova shooting

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting Friday evening in Rancho Cordova that left two people injured.

About 6 p.m., the agency received reports of shots fired in the 2100 block of West La Loma Drive.

Deputies learned that a man and a woman had been arguing with at least two other people in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

While they were driving away, two men with whom they had been arguing shot at their vehicle, striking the female driver at least twice and the male passenger once.

Both were taken to local hospitals for treatment and were expected to survive.

No information was available about the identity of the victims or the shooters, who fled the area after the incident.

An investigation is continuing.
