Once fire trucks were only red, then a study showed that lime-yellow painted engines were more visible.
Now comes to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, in limited edition, the pink fire truck.
The district will be supporting the fight against breast cancer by driving the big pink engine. The appearance of the engine is intended to bring a smile to the face of anyone battling cancer.
The engine goes into service Wednesday at Station 61 at 10595 Folsom Blvd. in Rancho Cordova. The so-called “Cancer Awareness” engine will rotate among different stations during October, which is breast cancer awareness month.
