A 56-year-old woman has been arrested, accused of felony hit-and-run driving in the death of a pedestrian early Wednesday morning in Rancho Cordova.
Madhu Lata Singh is being held in Sacramento County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail. She allegedly struck a woman in her 60s who was on her way to work.
The victim, whose name has not yet been released pending notification of family, was walking to work on Fite Circle south of Horn Road about 6 a.m. when she was hit by a vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rancho Cordova police motor officers and investigators responded to the scene. During the investigation, officers found a possible suspect vehicle a short distance from the site of the collision, according to a Police Department news release. A detective at the scene saw the driver of the vehicle and took her into custody.
