The Butte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an early-morning burglary of a fire station in the community of Palermo.
A call was received at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday regarding a burglary that had just occurred at the Cal Fire/Butte County fire station at 2290 Palermo Road. A man, who apparently thought the fire crew was gone, entered the station and was confronted by a firefighter in the kitchen, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
The man ran northbound on Hewitt Avenue. He was described as white, in his early 20s, 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 165 pounds. He reportedly was armed with a club.
