Rocklin police report that a woman riding a homemade motorized bicycle suffered major injuries after she ran a red light and broadsided a vehicle Wednesday afternoon.
Police and fire personnel responded to the area of Pacific and Farron streets at 3:15 p.m. regarding a traffic collision and found a woman lying in the roadway. The woman had been northbound on Pacific Street, traveling 30 mph to 40 mph on the motorized bicycle, when she ran the red light at the intersection with Farron Street, according to a Police Department news release.
Police said she nearly struck a vehicle leaving the post office parking lot, then broadsided a second vehicle leaving the lot.
The woman’s injuries included broken bones in her legs and facial injuries, police reported. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision was not injured.
