A Sacramento Superior Court jury today convicted Reshay Tiara Mott and Elliton Jaytwan Varnado of first-degree murder with special circumstances in the July 7, 2013, killing of Domenic David Lafazia.
Besides shooting and killing and trying to rob Lafazia, 49, each defendant also was convicted of robbing and beating two other men in and around the Stonegate Apartments on Mack Road.
Prosecutors said Mott responded to sex advertisements placed on craigslist by the victims to lure them to the apartment complex where Varnado would rob them at gunpoint.
Judge Patrick Marlette scheduled the sentencing on Mott, 21, and Varnado, 22, for Nov. 14. Both are facing probable terms of life in prison with no chance of parole.
