A 41-year-old Citrus Heights man has been sentenced to five years in prison for possessing child pornography.
Jason Carlsen pleaded guilty to the charge May 13 and was sentenced Tuesday in Sacramento by U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office news release.
In August 2013, Carlsen was found with hundreds of images and videos on his cell phone showing child pornography, according to court documents. Authorities said Carlsen used file sharing programs to send and receive child pornography with others, and in May 2013, he sent a series of text messages to a recipient in Kentucky that included explicit photographs of a juvenile believed to be about 13 years old.
Carlsen has been in custody since his arrested in March.
