A 13-year-old boy originally thought to have a life-threatening injury after being shot in the face is now listed in better condition.
The teen, who was not identified, was transported to the hospital after a Monday afternoon shooting near an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Edison Avenue in Arden Arcade, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. After arrival to the hospital, the description of the boy’s injuries was changed to non life-threatening.
Police responded to a call at 4:10 p.m. about the teenager, who was shot and had a wound in his right cheek. The victim reported seeing a green sedan leave the scene prior to being transported to the hospital, deputies said.
The gunman is believed to be a man in his 30s, said Sgt. Jeff Bacoch, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
