Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run identified as Sacramento woman

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified a pedestrian who died in a hit-and-run impact early Monday morning as 55-year-old Janice Christensen of Sacramento.

The fatal accident occurred about 12:45 a.m. on Arden Way east of Maple Glen Road in the Arden Arcade area. A black SUV, possibly a Lincoln, was westbound on Arden Way, and Christensen was pushing a shopping cart from the north to the south side of the roadway at the intersection, according to the California Highway Patrol. As she entered the westbound slow lane, she was struck by the SUV.

Although there is a crosswalk at the intersection, it was not clear whether Christensen was between the painted lines when she was struck.

The driver of the SUV left the scene, traveling westbound on Arden Way. Christensen was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP investigators are asking the public’s help in locating the driver of the SUV. Anyone with information is asked to call the Special Investigations Unit at the North Sacramento Area CHP office, 916-348-2300, or Crime Alert at 916-443-4357.
