A man wanted in connection with a deadly hit-and-run collision last month is now behind bars.
Joseph Yakshin, 23, is facing multiple felony charges including vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run after his Toyota Sienna ran a red light and slammed into a Volvo sedan Sept. 15 at the intersection of Walnut and El Camino avenues. He was arrested Thursday at his workplace in El Dorado Hills and faces an additional charge of driving under the influence and causing injury.
The 12:59 a.m. incident resulted in the death of Deadra Griffin, a passenger in the Volvo, according to authorities. The driver of the Volvo, Dorrance Byrd, sustained serious injuries.
Following the collision, the CHP said, Yakshin attempted to restart his vehicle three times before fleeing on foot. About 12 hours later, Yakshin reported his vehicle was stolen.
CHP investigators determined that Yakshin was the driver of the Toyota. He remains at the Sacramento County Main Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
