Man critically injured after shooting near high school, Sacramento police say

A man was hospitalized following a shooting Sunday morning across the street from West Campus High School, Sacramento police said.

Officers were called just before 4:45 a.m. to the 5300 block of Prickly Pear Avenue in Fruitridge Manor after reports of a shooting. Investigators found evidence of a shooting but did not find any victims, said Officer Anthony Gamble, a Sacramento Police Department spokesperson.

Later, a man went to a hospital with at least one life-threatening injury, Gamble said.

He was in critical condition, Gamble said.

The investigation is ongoing.
