Officials searching for missing incarcerated woman in Sacramento County

Police tape at crime scene

Law enforcement officers in Sacramento County are looking for a 25-year-old incarcerated woman who walked away from a female community reentry program on Saturday.

At about 1:46 p.m. officials with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation became aware that Serena Morena-Carrera was missing from the facility, a residential site available to offenders with less than two years remaining on their sentences. A press release said she apparently tampered with her ankle monitor before leaving the facility.

Both the CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety and local law enforcement are aware of the incident and assisting in the search, according to the press release.

Morena-Carrera is serving an eight year, eight month sentence for mayhem, vandalism, vehicle theft and hit-and-run causing injury of a person other than herself. She has brown eyes and black hair, is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 241 pounds.

Law enforcement is seeking information about Moreno-Carrera’s whereabouts and asked anyone with information to call 911 or 916-580-9977.
