The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department has released a sketch of a man accused of shooting at a deputy during an encounter in a rural area near Camino last week.

Sheriff’s officials seek the public’s help in identifying the suspect in Friday’s shooting, which occurred about 8 a.m. in the area of Cable and White Mountain roads. The deputy reportedly made informal contact with the man. When a struggle ensued, the man allegedly retrieved a handgun and fired at the deputy. The deputy was not injured.

The suspect is described as approximately 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing approximately 200 to 250 pounds, with a goatee.

He was last seen driving away on Cable Road in a mid 1990s to early 2000s white Dodge single-cab truck, similar to the one pictured. The truck did not have a license plate.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to call Detective James Peterson at (530) 642-4713, Detective Ken Barber at (530) 642-4710, or Detective Sgt. Matt Foxworthy at (530) 642-4704.
