Sacramento police are asking the public's help in identifying suspects in an assault that occurred in March at a restaurant in the downtown area.
Officers were called to the restaurant at 12:26 a.m. March 5 regarding a report of a physical assault. Officers learned that an argument had occurred between an apparently intoxicated man and the owner of the business after the man was refused service.
After the man was refused alcohol, a friend of his became aggressive and threw a small blunt object, striking the business owner, according to a Police Department news release. In an effort to defuse the situation, a patron who observed the commotion attempted to intervene.
The patron was suddenly attacked and assaulted by several people near the bar area of the restaurant. Police said the good Samaritan suffered a serious injury to his eye and was later treated an area hospital.
