A teen inside his apartment when gunfire broke out Monday night has died from gunshot wounds.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office said that Zai Chao Wu, 18, was pronounced dead at 5:27 p.m. Tuesday.
Sacramento police are investigating the gunfire that sent Wu and another man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Monday night.
Officers were called about 5 p.m. Monday to a shooting in the 6200 block of Lemon Hill Avenue in south Sacramento. There, they found evidence of an exchange of gunfire, but no combatants.

All of those who had fired weapons had fled. Later, a man who police have not identified showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.
This man continues to be treated for serious injuries and is believed to have been involved in original exchange of gunfire, police said.
Officers also discovered that Wu had been struck with gunfire while inside his apartment in a neighboring complex. He was not a combatant in the shooting, police said.
Homicide and gang detectives are working the case.
