Sacramento resident Nicole Axtell said she started an online fundraiser Sunday for Anthony Holmes Sr., the man shot in the face during Friday’s first attempted carjacking, to help his family cope with its expenses while he is recovering.
Axtell said she visited Holmes in the hospital Saturday and Sunday, prayed with him and met family members. She said he could not speak, but that he appeared to be somewhat improved on Sunday.
Axtell said she started the Anthony Holmes Fund at www.Giveforward.com because she wanted Holmes and his family to know “people care about what happened to him.”
The two law enforcement officers killed Friday, Sacramento County sheriff’s Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County sheriff’s Detective Michael David Davis Jr., were the subjects of tributes on various social media websites. To see a sampling of those tributes, go to sacbee.com.
