The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified a Folsom man as the driver killed when his pickup truck ran off the road and crashed in Fair Oaks on Tuesday.

Randall Weston, 25, died when his pickup traveled off the road and down an embankment in a wooded area off Sunset Avenue east of Sunset Place Lane about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Weston entered a left curve on eastbound Sunset Avenue and allowed his pickup to leave the south roadway edge, according to the California Highway Patrol. The pickup hit a tree and caught fire, becoming engulfed in flames. Weston, who remained in the vehicle, died at the scene.

Excessive speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash, according to a CHP press release.
