A 73-year-old man has died after being struck by a truck in Woodland.
Police said officers were dispatched about 6:45 p.m. Saturday to the area of California Street south of West Elliot Street regarding a collision involving a pedestrian. It was reported that a man had been hit by a vehicle and was still lying in the roadway, according to a Woodland Police Department news release.
Officers found the pedestrian face down and unconscious in the roadway. He was taken by ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said, adding that the man reportedly was talking with hospital staff when he was admitted. Police, however, were notified Sunday afternoon by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office that the man had died.
The Coroner’s Office website identifies the pedestriain as 73-year-old Macario Magana Fernandez of Woodland.

The driver of the truck, a 1989 Ford F-150 pickup, remained at the collision scene and also was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Police identified the driver as Raquel Fletes, 65, of Woodland.
A preliminary investigation determined that the truck was traveling southbound on California Street and that Magana Fernandez was crossing California westbound when he was hit by the truck.
