El Dorado County sheriff’s officials say several preschools in the county have received telephone messages in recent days threatening staff members and children.
Among the businesses targeted was one that has no children on the premises, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. Although several preschools have temporarily closed as a result of the threats, the Sheriff’s Office has not instructed any of the schools to lock down their facilities, officials said.
Although the Sheriff’s Office is not aware of any credible threat at this time, officials said Monday that they are working to identify the person or people responsible for the threatening messages. Extra patrols are being conducted in areas targeted by the caller.
Anyone with information related to the threats is asked to call Detective Jon Densmore at 530-642-4718.
