Rocklin police and Placer County sheriff’s deputies were investigating the discovery of a body in a Rocklin quarry.
Police Sgt. Trent Jewell said officers responded about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday to a call reporting a body floating in a rock quarry pond near the library at 4890 Granite Drive. After confirming the report, police requested assistance from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office dive team.
Jewell said the divers recovered a man’s body at about 1 p.m. It is not known how long the man had been in the water. Jewell said the body was turned over to Placer County coroner’s officials to determine the identity and cause of death.
Investigators were checking for any missing-person reports that might match the man’s description, Jewell said.
