Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a bicyclist Sunday evening in Rio Linda.
Tobias Carlile, 40, of Rio Linda was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at 8:55 p.m. Sunday when an unknown vehicle was traveling east on Elkhorn Boulevard east of 14th Street, according to CHP.
Carlile was also headed east and was walking with his wife along a dark section of Elkhorn Boulevard, said Jenna Berry, a CHP spokeswoman. He was straddling his bicycle and walking it in the bike lane on the south side of the roadway when the vehicle traveled into the bike lane and struck him, Berry said.

It is not known why the vehicle veered into the bike lane and struck Carlile. The driver left the scene in the vehicle. No vehicle make or model has been identified, Berry said.
