The death of a woman whose body was found Monday near south area railroad tracks has been determined to be a homicide.
Sacramento County sheriff’s detectives investigating the death of the still-unidentified woman say that it appears that the woman was shot, according to information released Tuesday by the department.
Her body was discovered about 9 a.m. Monday near railroad tracks north of Calvine Road and east of Morgan Hill Way. Initially, the Sheriff’s Department only stated that the woman had head trauma and that further investigation was needed to discover how she died.
During a canvass of the area, deputies talked to people who reported hearing gunshots late Sunday evening, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.
