The California Highway Patrol seeks to find the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident Thursday night in the Arden Arcade area that left a pedestrian with serious injuries.
About 7:25 p.m., Antonio Garcia, 51, of Sacramento was walking on El Camino Avenue east of Darwin Street, crossing from the north side to the south side, when a vehicle traveling westbound on El Camino in the No. 1 lane struck Garcia as he was in the roadway. The vehicle carried Garcia about 1,000 feet before he fell off, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. The vehicle then headed toward Interstate 80.
Garcia suffered severe injuries to his left leg and head, and was taken to an area hospital, the CHP reported.
The hit-and-run vehicle was described only as an older model sedan with possible front-end damage.
