Q: Howard E. Turley Jr. was murdered Sept. 16, 2005. Was his killer ever caught?
A: No arrests have been reported in the 2005 shooting death of 32-year-old Howard Turley, who was found with several gunshot wounds at his Meadowview-area home.
According to stories in The Sacramento Bee, Turley lived alone in the 400 block of Henrietta Way. Police said family members became concerned when he failed to pick up his children on a Friday afternoon. When they were unable to contact him, they went to his house and found him dead. Police at the time declined to discuss a motive for the shooting but said they did not believe it was a random attack.

Turley had purchased the house on Henrietta Way from Daryl Marcus Summerfield, who was arrested in October 2006, accused by federal authorities of running a family enterprise that distributed large amounts of cocaine in Sacramento neighborhoods and across the country. Turley was a real estate agent identified in the federal complaint as a drug associate of Summerfield, according to a story in The Bee at the time of Summerfield’s arrest.
Summerfield was sentenced in September 2012 to 20 years in federal prison for cocaine trafficking and money laundering.
