El Dorado County sheriffs officials are investigating a shooting last week in which a Cameron Park man was wounded by a gunshot fired through the open window of a residence.
Deputies responded about 9:35 p.m. Thursday to an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Knollwood Court for a reported shooting. There they contacted 66-year-old Edward O’Keeffe, who told them that he was in the bedroom of his apartment when he was shot by an unknown person through an open window, according to a news release issued Monday by the Sheriff’s office.
O’Keeffe suffered a single gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was transported for medical treatment and is expected to recover from his injuries, sheriff’s officials said.
Patrol deputies, detectives and crime scene investigators searched the area for evidence and the person responsible. At this time, sheriff’s officials said, deputies do not think the shooting was a random act.
