A: Stephen Pirt, 37, of the San Joaquin County community of Mountain House was sentenced Nov. 5 to two years and one month in federal prison for his participation in a large-scale mortgage fraud scheme.

Pirt pleaded guilty to wire fraud in September 2013. According to evidence presented during the trial for co-defendant Erik Hermann Green of Roseville, Pirt and Green defrauded the New Century Mortgage Co. by submitting false documentation about borrowers’ employment, income and assets, including fraudulent loan applications and other altered bank documents.

A federal jury in August found Green guilty of five counts of wire fraud. He was sentenced Nov. 19 to two years and three months in prison.
