A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night on the Del Paso Road offramp from northbound Interstate 5 in Sacramento.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Chad Hertzell said the incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Hertzell said he did not know whether the victim was male or female, but he said the individual was in the No. 2 lane of the offramp when struck.
Few details were available, and Hertzell said investigators were trying to determine whether the individual was trying to commit suicide and intentionally stepped into the traffic lane, or whether it was an accident.
He said no one in the vehicle was injured.
