A man walking on Freeport Boulevard on the Meadowview area died Tuesday evening when he was struck by a vehicle.
The incident occurred about 6 p.m. on northbound Freeport Boulevard, north of Meadowview Road. Officer Justin Brown, Sacramento Police spokesman, said there are no sidewalks at the location, which was also very dark, and the man reportedly was walking in the roadway when he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Brown said he did not know the man’s age.
The driver of the vehicle was a teenager, who Brown said remained at the scene and was cooperating with police.
Brown said neither fog nor alcohol were factors, but investigators are trying to determine whether speed played a role in the accident.
