Sacramento police have identified two people found fatally shot Friday in a south Sacramento home.

Jason Turner 32, and Mary Sydara, 31, both died at 11:37 p.m. Friday in the 3100 block of 38th Avenue, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s records.

Police who arrived at the home Friday found two bodies – a deceased male with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and a deceased female who also had been shot in the head. The two people were in a romantic relationship, said Officer Traci Trapani, police spokeswoman.

“Based on the investigation, the man shot the female and then shot himself,” she said.

Police were called to the home to check on Sydara’s well-being. Authorities said she lived at the home. Family members said they had not heard from her for a day, and were worried, according to a department news release.

Nearby residents said Saturday that they had not heard about the incident and didn’t hear gunshots Friday night.

The department is asking anyone with information to contact the dispatch center at 916-264-5471 or Crime Alert at 916-443-4357 or submit an anonymous tip using the free “P3 Tips” smartphone app. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
