The cause of a fire that damaged the garage of a Rancho Cordova home Thursday afternoon remains under investigation.
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews responded just after 3:30 p.m. to a home in the 10600 block of Coloma Road regarding a report of heavy smoke from a garage. They found the garage engulfed in flames and immediately began attacking the fire. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire, containing it to the garage and preventing it from spreading to the living quarters. They also were able to protect the family dog in the backyard, according to a Fire District news release.
No injuries were reported.
Fire officials estimated damage to the garage at $25,000 and the value of the property saved at $180,000.
