Inmate killed at Sacramento Main Jail identified

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified the inmate who officials say was killed at the Sacramento Main Jail Friday. Saeteurn Choi, 68, was found dead in his cell around 6 a.m. Friday. He had been in jail since Jan. 8 on drug-related charges.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department arrested Khot Panyanouvong, 35, on suspicion of murder. He was housed in the same location as the victim.

Panyanouvong was originally booked Thursday on a parole violation and suspicion of resisting arrest, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.He will appear in court Tuesday on the murder charge.
