Coroner identifies pedestrian killed in Watt Avenue hit-and-run

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturday in the Arden Arcade area.

The coroner’s website said the pedestrian hit along Watt Avenue was 28-year-old Savanna Lang. No city of residence was listed.

Ramiro Martinez Delacruz, 40, was driving a 1998 Ford F-150 truck north on Watt, north of Lynne Way, as Lang was walking north on the east side of the roadway.

The pickup struck Lang, who landed on the frontage road on the east side of Watt, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. She died at the scene.

CHP officials said Delacruz left the scene in the Ford, which county sheriff’s deputies found at Watt Avenue and Winona Way. Delacruz was booked into Sacramento County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, hit-and-run, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, violation of DUI probation and driving on a suspended license.

CHP investigators ask anyone in the area between 11 p.m. Friday and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, or who may have information on the case, to call the Special Investigations Unit at the North Sacramento Area CHP office at 916-348-2300 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
