Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 29-year-old female in connection with a late Friday shooting in the 3900 block of Madison Avenue, just west of Interstate 80, in North Highlands.
Detectives arrested Jaklin Ann Sorrells, 29, of North Highlands, for assault with a deadly weapon and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. She was booked into the Sacramento County Jail and is being held in lieu of $75,500 bail.
Deputies responded to the scene shortly after 9:45 p.m. on a 911 call that reported gunshots and a fight among “five to six” individuals. The 911 caller said someone had been shot.
At the scene, deputies said a 24-year-old male had sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, officials said Saturday afternoon.

Deputies detained several people involved in the incident, which apparently started with a verbal argument between the victim and his girlfriend. Other people on the scene tried unsuccessfully to break up the altercation, officials said.
