A shooting near Vacaville Premium Outlets sent a man to the hospital and forced the closure of a main road for three hours Sunday evening.
Vacaville police Lt. Mark Donaldson said investigators were looking into reports that gunshots were fired between two vehicles near the outlet mall shortly before 5 p.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found multiple shell casings.
They later discovered that a man in his 20s had been admitted to Kaiser Vacaville with two gunshot wounds. The man underwent surgery, and the wounds weren’t believed to be life threatening, Donaldson said.
Police also found an abandoned car, with one of its windows shattered, a few miles away. The car fit the description of one of the vehicles believed to be involved in the shooting, he said.

Donaldson said the investigation prompted a three-hour closure of the westbound lane of Orange Drive, between Nut Tree Road and the I-505 offramp. Orange Drive runs right past the outlet mall.
