Two adults are facing charges after a violent road accident Tuesday in Galt ejected a 3-year-old passenger from the car.
Viviana Guel, 33, was driving a minivan shortly before noon on Twin Cities Road near Pellandini Road in Galt when she made an unsafe turning movement while attending to the children, said Michael Bradley, spokesman for California Highway Patrol South Sacramento. She faces charges for unlicensed driving and failure to properly secure a child.
The three passengers in the back seat included a 3-year-old girl, a 2-year-old boy, and a 3-month-old girl. The 3-year-old fell out of the vehicle when it rolled over on the two-lane country road. She was taken to UC Davis Medical Center with serious injuries. The other four suffered only minor scrapes and cuts, Bradley said.
The other adult passenger in the car was Gilberto Rodriguez, 33. He has been charged with two felony counts – one for corporal injury on spouse or cohabitant and one for endangering the life or health of a child, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
