El Dorado County sheriff's officials have launched a boating accident investigation after a man apparently drowned Saturday morning in Lake Tahoe, east of Meeks Bay.
The Sheriff’s Office was notified at 11:35 a.m. that a man had been found unresponsive in the water with an unoccupied personal watercraft drifting nearby. The man reportedly was being transported to the Cave Rock boat ramp for medical treatment, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
The man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the Cave Rock boat ramp.
Sheriff’s officials said Monday that they are trying to determine whether operation of the personal watercraft caused the man’s death.
