The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the bicyclist killed last week along Stockton Boulevard in a hit-and-run collision.
He was identified as Edwin Valentin, 45, of Sacramento.
Sacramento police responded at 5:57 a.m. to the 4200 block of Stockton Boulevard and found Valentin lying along the east curb line, south of San Francisco Boulevard. The Sacramento Fire Department also responded. Valentin was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Police Department’s major collision investigation unit was called. It appears that Valentin was pedaling north on Stockton Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle that was also northbound on Stockton.

After the collision, the car turned eastbound onto San Francisco Boulevard and left. The white sedan was later found unoccupied near the 3500 block of 59th Street.
Police said the vehicle had a broken rear window, which was consistent with a car window detectives found at the collision scene. They said it was held together with distinctive red tape, which also was found on the abandoned vehicle.
