A 35-year-old man died from gunshot wounds Friday evening in Woodland, two days after another fatal shooting in the city, police said.
Woodland Police Department Lt. Cmdr. Aaron Delao said in an email the 35-year-old man was driving Friday evening near Third and Cross streets when he saw a man driving a light-gray Honda. Delao said the two vehicles began chasing each other.
“I am not sure who was chasing who,” Delao said.
The Honda driver began shooting near the 800 block of Fifth Street, striking the victim, who contacted a friend to assist him to Woodland Memorial Hospital. The man, whose name was not released, died during surgery, Delao said.
On Wednesday, Arnulfo Bermudez Jr. was fatally shot in the 500 block of Community Lane just after 12:40 a.m., police reported. Officers found Bermudez Jr. in his vehicle, which had crashed into another vehicle, according to police.
Delao said the Yolo County Gang Task Force is leading both investigations, and it is unclear if the incidents are related.
Anyone who has information about the incidents is asked to contact the Woodland Police Department at 530-661-7800.
