Shooting in Roseville leads police on manhunt for suspect in Loomis

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office and Roseville Police are involved in a manhunt for Gerardo Romiro, 43, of Roseville, who is wanted for shooting his wife in Roseville earlier Sunday.

Dee Dee Gunther, spokeswoman for the Roseville Police Department says the wife is expected to survive.

The sheriff’s office said Romiro is believed to be armed and warned area residents to stay indoors.

Romiro fled Roseville and went to a friend’s home on Horseshoe Bar Road in Loomis, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, which posted a news release on Facebook at 5:40 p.m.

Once officers arrived, Romiro fled on foot, and authorities barricaded Horseshoe Bar Road, Val Verde Road and Rancho Verde Lane.

The Roseville Police Department released a photo of Romiro, who authorities said is 5-foot-8, 150 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black hat, t-shirt and dark blue shorts.
