A Sacramento Fire Department water rescue crew worked late Wednesday afternoon to recover a body from the Sacramento River near Miller Park.
Capt. Dave Lauchner, Fire Department spokesman, said a call was received about 4:15 p.m. reporting what appeared to be a body floating in the river.
Crews responded and confirmed the report. Once the body is recovered, Lauchner said, the scene will be turned over to the Sacramento Police Department to conduct an investigation.
Lauchner said he had no information regarding the deceased individual, such as gender or age. He said he was not aware of any recent reports of drownings in which the body had not been recovered.
