Police say Oak Park shooting victim expected to survive

Sacramento police say a man injured in an Oak Park shooting Thursday afternoon is expected to survive.

The shooting occurred in the 3300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, according to police. The Sacramento Fire Department reported the shooting took place in front of Station 6 at 3309 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Sacramento Police spokesman Sgt. Bryce Heinlein said the victim, a male, underwent surgery. Heinlein said he did not know the victim’s age or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

A section of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard was closed between Seventh and Ninth avenues for investigation of the shooting scene. Police reported that the road reopened to traffic about 3:30 p.m.
